śyāma-varṇa rakta-netra mahā-bhayaṅkara
dhanur-bāṇa haste, — yena yama daṇḍa-dhara

śyāma-varṇa — blackish color; rakta-netra — reddish eyes; mahābhayaṅkara — very fearful bodily features; dhanur-bāṇa haste — with arrows and bow in hand; yena yama daṇḍa-dhara — exactly like the superintendent of death, Yamarāja.

“The hunter’s body was blackish. He had reddish eyes, and he appeared fierce. It was as if the superintendent of death, Yamarāja, were standing there with a bow and arrows in his hands.
