vasi’ nāma laya purī, nidrā nāhi haya
śeṣa-rātre tandrā haila, — bāhya-vṛtti-laya
vasi’—allí sentado; nāma laya—canta el mahā-mantra Hare Kṛṣṇa; purī—Mādhavendra Purī; nidrā—sueño; nāhi haya—no había; śeṣa-rātre—al final de la noche; tandrā—durmiéndose un poco; haila—hubo; bāhya-vṛtti—de actividades externas; laya—cese.
Mādhavendra Purī no podía dormir. Se sentó y cantó el mahā-mantra Hare Kṛṣṇa. Al final de la noche se durmió un poquito, y sus actividades externas se detuvieron.
